What are your feelings about Christmas season

2021, compared to Christmas season 2020?

Here’s how GON Readers responded… 40% About the same. Christmas is always wonderful to me, no matter what challenges we're facing. 31% Last Christmas season was tough. This year seems more hopeful. 16% Last Christmas season was better. This one has its own set of challenges ahead. 13% Other Other GON Reader Comments: Holidays are hard for me regardless. Last year was hard and so is this year. Covid has nothing to do with it. I feel Christmas is too much about giving gifts instead of just getting together and family to celebrate the love. This year seemed even tougher than 2020. I’m looking forward to going into 2022 with a positive outlook and new changes. Christmas is a wonderful time of year, but like most I am concerned about the virus. Will have family over, but will pray for safety and good health. The older you get, the more you realize health is so very important. Better, not meaning good. Omicron has hit our family this year so we have even more reason to isolate. We haven't even decorated. Last year, we opened gifts over Zoom. This year is in person at my home as always. Watching grandchildren in person is so much better. Unfortunately, it appears that there will continue to be challenges for Christmas this year. Things will be on the quieter side to keep everyone safe and healthy. I did a craft project this year which gave me something new to do in place of the things I cannot do anymore. I also printed my own cards and mailed them. That helped me keep in contact with the family and friends that are not comfortable getting together. Two consecutive Christmas seasons with different sets of challenges. Last year Covid separation from family. This year health crisis to put damper on seasonal spirit. This year is better because we were able to see our family in person more. Yet last year didn’t seem as hectic as most December’s are and I liked that. Both years are bad. I lost my sister last year and my brother this year. Our pastor moved on top of that. I am trying to adjust and make new traditions without a family. I do have my husband and son. Apathy, fueled by media negativity and continuing mandates. I'm torn because some main family members have not been vaccinated, but still want to get together as if nothing is going on. I am vaccinated, but have tried to be very careful since we take care of a 92-year old. Last year was quiet and muted without extended family due to Covid pandemic celebration restrictions. This year we still have pandemic worries lingering in the background but a new immediate family health crisis has made the holiday season still overcast and shadowed by worries. Very mixed. We won't see some kids but we will see others. Very excited! Last year we enjoyed our immediate family. This year we are hosting extended family the day after. I LOVE these get togethers with aunts, uncles, cousins and all! Not a fan of winter or the holidays. I try to make them as easy and positive as I can. I love celebrating the advent of Jesus into the world. No matter how much money we have to spend, there are so many free events and activities to enjoy. Unpredictable as almost daily covid restrictions change. Especially if you’re living on your own ! No change from a year ago. Holidays are difficult for me as I lost my two remaining siblings the last two years. Back to Web Poll Results Index
