How often do you wash your windows?

Here’s how GON Readers responded… 27% I haven't washed my windows in years 23% Whenever I notice they're getting dirty 21% Other 15% Twice a year...spring and fall 11% I "touch-up" clean them when I see bird poop and such 2% When my professional window washer can fit me in 1% I rent...someone else is responsible for getting this task done Other GON Reader Comments: My home is full of windows, big, small, high, and low. It’s a challenge keeping them clean. I spot clean what I can reach and have a professional do the ones that need a ladder. A window a day is a good goal that I don’t always reach, but I appreciate the consistency of at least seeing it on my list! Once a year, maybe. Once a year. It’s too hard to do more often! I can usually get to the downstairs windows, inside and out, once a year. But the outside, upstairs windows rarely get washed. I clean my kitchen windows often because they’re easy to do, but all the others, well, maybe once a year. Some windows, like the kitchen, patio, and front door I do whenever they look bad because I look out of them often. Others, like the bedrooms, hopefully once a year. Every few years! Once a year—I try to do them in spring (otherwise fall). The inside ones are done a few times a year. Buy the outside ones are is a different matter: Those get done never. I live on the second floor and can' t reach all of the surfaces of the windows. Once a year, unless needed more on an individual window. I've never washed my outside windows. I never really realized this was a thing that needed doing. (I do clean inside weekly though.) When I get the inspiration and energy. Twice a year, except where there are nose smudges from the dogs and cats…which I handle when noticeable! I live on a dirt road. I wash my windows and, within hours, they are dirty again. I try every year or every other year on the outside. I keep the insides clean. Once a year. I use a spray bottle attached to the garden hose to clean the outside...not me up on a ladder. Never. Once every few months, when they start to look dirty. We have a professional twice-a-year, but clean the windows where our dogs look out quite often. We also have a large window overlooking the patio that we clean a few extra times. I wash the inside windows a couple times a year or when noticeably dirty. Unfortunately, I only do the outside about once a year, usually with a cleaner that attaches to hose. I have old windows that don’t tilt in for cleaning. On an irregular schedule. I clean them as feasible, but it is rarely more than once a year. You're supposed to wash those? Every month. I live in a tropical climate so I need to clean the sills weekly. The inside windows get done each month. I pull the screens off monthly during the dry season to spray/clean. During the rainy season, I do this task every 3 months. Four times a year inside and outside (spring, summer, fall, winter) when I change curtains, clean, and decorate for each season. I try for once-a-year in the spring. My husband volunteered himself for this job and he just did it for the 25 windows plus French doors in our house. Normally once a year. My housecleaning service does it. Twice a year, and I also wash in between when needed. Once a year with indoor touch ups as needed. We bought 24 new windows. The full screen on each is on year- round. Windows do not get washed as often as we would like. When I move the furniture from in front of the window so I can get to it! Back to Web Poll Results Index
