How do you learn best?

Here’s how GON Readers responded… 33% When there's someone walking me through the process step- by-step 23% Reading words and applying 14% Watching a video and applying 12% Having a diagram in front of me and applying 12% Other 6% Listening and applying Other GON Reader Comments: I am a visual learner. Watching a human and being able to ask questions. A combination of many of these. I need to see the diagram AND read all the instructions at the same time to understand before I can apply. All of these…and taking notes. Listening and taking notes. Visuals are helpful too. All of the above. Lots of different senses, repeated over and over again! Being walked through it initially definitely helps. I work best with a group setting rather than home or Zoom. I use a few different methods, depending on what I'm learning. Although, I am least likely to watch a video to learn something. Listening, writing notes, reading notes, applying. Being shown; then doing it. Absolutely have to do it to learn it. For how-to, either video or live demo/explanation. For info, reading. Listening, watching, hearing, doing. The difficulty of the task determines my learning style. Tips and tricks can be audio; a new knitting stitch - video and written; DIY home improvement: lots of videos and written articles! Someone walking me through the process while I’m doing the task hands-on. Combination - I make notes when someone tells me or shows me what to do. Then I observe them. Then I try it. Depends on what I'm learning. If it's physical, a teacher or video works best. If it's facts, reading and memorization. When there’s someone walking me through. And making sure I have a notebook handy to make notes to have those instructions in my handwriting. I do well with written instructions. But, now that videos are so available, I use them also.
