Top Ten Lists Top 10 Reasons Why You May Not Be Reaching Your Weight Goals You’re trying to eat better. You’re exercising like crazy. But it seems that no matter what you do, you can’t seem to get to the weight you keep aiming for. Here are 10 possible reasons why you may not be getting the results you want. 1. Too much processed sugar in your diet, like soda, lattes, bread, sweets, cereal and pasta. Keep a log and cut out as much as possible. 2. Not enough sleep. You need at least 7 hours. 3. Not enough water. Aim for at least 8 eight-ounce glasses a day. 4. Skipping meals or starving yourself. Do this and your body goes into survival mode, your metabolism slows down, and you’ll gain even more. 5. Overeating some healthy foods. Certain foods that are healthy, like nuts and avocados, are very high in calories. Eat them in moderation. 6. Not eating correct portions. Don’t overload your plate and be sure at least half of your plate is comprised of fresh vegetables...raw or steamed. 7. Not enough muscle building. Cardio is great, but muscle building activities are also needed for weight loss. 8. Too much sitting. Get up and move at least every 20 minutes. 9. Not exercising enough. Try to get in an hour a day, six days a week. 10. Being sad. If you’re sad or depressed, more than you’re happy, that’s a huge factor in not being able to lose weight. Smile more...even if you have to force it. Try to avoid complaining. Find at least 10 things to be thankful for each day.
