Here are just a few things I have going on this month…
•
College Orientation in New York: Right at the beginning of the
month, my daughter, Amanda, and I will be flying to New York for
Amanda's college orientation. They divide students and parents up
into groups and provide 'everything-we-need-to-know' in this all-day
informational session for first year students. Because my daughter is
still not done with high school, and is in the middle of taking exams,
we have to make this a quick weekend trip so she can get back to
finish up her tests. But, while on the east coast, we'll get to see my
family in New Jersey the day after orientation before we fly back.
Looking forward to that.
•
Helping my daughter make a graduation cap topper. Are you
familiar with grad cap toppers? They're basically a piece of artwork
placed on top of grad caps with favorite quotes, sayings,
embellishments, etc. Because I scrapbook, I've been asked for
assistance with this project. Amanda and I will take a day to stop at a
hobby store for some materials and then we'll create it together.
•
Deck…the saga continues: This month continues the seemingly
never-ending saga of getting our deck in shape for the season. My
husband and I are now up to the staining part of this project, so
hopefully this will be completed and wrapped up this month. Finger
crossed!
•
Graduation: My daughter is graduating high school this month. We're
looking forward to that event at her high school. I'll be sure to have a
box of tissues for me and the other parents who are crying happy
tears!
•
Container Planting: I've had a gift card to my favorite local
greenhouse since Christmas and am so looking forward to spending it
on plants...tomatoes, peppers, our favorite herbs, flowers, etc. It's
going to be fun. We'll be planting most of it in containers this month
and displaying them on our deck for easy care and watering.
•
Amanda's Graduation Party: My husband and I are hosting
Amanda's graduation party, for family and friends, at our home later
this month. We're hoping for good weather as there are going to be a
lot of people, but we can switch to indoors if necessary. Please send
good vibes for sunshine! It's one of those 'drop in when you can'
events, four-hours long. I have aspirations of cooking all sorts of Italian
food, but thinking I may end up having at least a portion of it catered.
•
Other Graduation Parties: Many of Amanda's friends, who we've
known since Amanda was little, are also hosting graduation parties. I
think we're going to twelve this month. There's one day when we'll be
going to four parties! I told my husband to prepare to eat light in July
as there will be no money available for grocery shopping after all of
this!
•
Dentist: My most relaxing day of the month will likely be this one-hour
dental appointment for a teeth cleaning.
•
Father's Day: With the plethora of other activities this month, we'll
likely just go out to a nice, quiet breakfast to celebrate Father's Day.
There is a restaurant about 40 minutes away from where we live
called The Lumber Inn. I'm guessing that's where he will want to
go...and I'm sure it will be a delightful morning.
•
Business: Yes, school is ending for lots of families now that it's June,
but I am always working ahead in my business. So, I'll be focusing my
thoughts and efforts on the back-to-school season which will be here
before we know it.
And that about wraps it up, which is good because I will even admit that I
have waaaaayyyyyy too much going on this month
