Calmly handling a

problem

Join our newsletter to be notified when the newest Reader Organizing Tip is available. Once, when I planned an event, just one week before the occasion, I was told the location would be unavailable. Oh no, the invitations had already been sent out! Here’s what I did. • Stay positive and don’t panic. This is easier to say than to do, but no one benefits from a scene of anguish. I accepted the fact of the problem, and then got to work on solving the dilemma. • Go to your resources first, such as the Internet. Use your favorite search engine, such as Google, and search for what you need and see what comes up. There will likely be solutions or leads to other sources of help. It worked for me. I found several alternatives. • Pass info to others. I stated the problem to my co-planners: “I have bad news (the banquet hall for our event is no longer available)” and “I have good news (I found two other locations for us to choose from).” • Take action. After a decision is determined, take action. I got to work, right away. • Communicate! Use as many sources of communicating as possible...email, snail mail, text messages, FB Messenger, phone calling, and in person. I used lots of these methods. • Divide and conquer. More people make a lighter load. My co-planners and I divided the phone list of guests to notify everyone of the location change. I’m happy to report that the new location for our event worked out great and all the guests made it without confusion. Our event was a success...and lovely!
