3 ways to begin going paperless at home

One way to begin getting your paper at home under control is to begin
leaning towards “paperless methods.” If you’re not tech-savvy, doing this
may be a bit scary. Just like anything else that seems uncomfortable
though, it does become easier the more you do it. Here are 3 fairly painless
ways to begin your paperless quest at home
1.
Start with your snail-mail box: As you get mail in your mailbox, place
anything being sent to you that you really don’t need in a pile. Set
aside 10 minutes a day to contact those organizations and
companies…and ask them to remove you from their mailing lists. If you
received something in the mail that you would like to keep getting,
consider switching to the digital edition…like the newspaper, or your
insurance updates.
2.
Ask for electronic statements: Are you still receiving paper
statements from your bank, electric company, and such? One by one,
begin converting to electronic statements. Have them sent to you via
email and view the bills on your computer screen. Try paying one bill
online…and then two…and then three. It’s amazing how quick it is to
pay bills online once you start, versus having to get out your physical
check book.
3.
Read on an eReader or tablet: I love my Kindle Paperwhite…and
have hundreds of books on it. It has really cut down on book clutter.
Most people buy printed books that are stored on a shelf when
complete, and never opened again. I also read all of my magazines
subscriptions on my iPad. I don’t miss the paper versions at all. When I
want to “save” something I like, I email the page to myself…and store it
in an email folder until needed.
