Having overnight guests? It doesn’t take much work to make them feel at
home, but it can make all the difference in the world to them when they’re
treated extra special. Here are 3 easy ways...
1.
Clean and organize. Whether they’ll be staying in the guest room or
on the sofa in your living room, be sure they have an uncluttered,
clean place to sleep and a place to put their belongings (a few extra
dresser drawers, closet space, a basket, etc.) without having to
rearrange.
2.
Stock up. Stock the bathroom, your guest will be using, with a basket
packed with essentials. Fill it with travel-size toiletries, an extra
toothbrush, a comb, and anything else you feel they might need. Tell
them the items in the basket are for their use if needed. In addition, be
sure they have plenty of clean bath towels, hand towels, and wash
cloths.
3.
Add some extra special touches by doing one or all of the following:
o
Leave cool bottled water where they’re sleeping for when they get
thirsty.
o
Make things easy to find...like fresh towels, extra blankets, coffee
mugs, and a reading light.
o
Keep fresh coffee on hand, along with creamer or milk, and sugar
or sweetener. If your guests are early risers, consider setting the
coffee pot to fill automatically, or get up early and make it for
them.
o
If your house is dark at night, plug in a few night lights to prevent
guests from falling or stubbing their toes.
o
On their bed, leave some current magazines, a few pieces of
wrapped chocolate or another treat, and maybe even a
handwritten note from you.
