Nix procrastination by doing this…

by Maria Gracia Join our newsletter to be notified when the newest Organizing Quick Tip is available. Most people procrastinate on one thing or another at some point. We may procrastinate on big projects because, as a whole, they seem daunting. We may procrastinate on researching a new insurance company or organizing the basement because we may have no clue where to begin. We may procrastinate on telling somebody something because we’re not sure how that person will feel or what they’ll do The very first step in ending procrastination is foregoing a giant leap, and instead, taking a very small step ahead. So, if you have a big project, your small step may be simply writing down some tasks you might like to accomplish. If you have a big project and don’t know where to begin, just start somewhere. If you’re organizing the basement, you might pick up one or two items and decide whether they should go into the keep or toss pile. If you’re procrastinating on telling someone something, start jotting down some notes in a journal just to get your thoughts out of your head. The worst thing you can do, when you’re procrastinating, is nothing. But even doing one tiny thing is, very often, just the small spark you need to get going. Remember, standing still won’t get you anywhere. Baby steps may be small and slow, but they move you forward. Back to Organizing Quick Tips Index
