Before we begin…don’t forget!
Mother’s Day is coming…click here to check out my curated list of
Mother’s Day Gifts That Will Actually Get Used (and Loved!)
May 1
Dust Your Bookshelves Backwards: Start with the shelf you
ignore most often—usually the bottom one. Remove books,
dust the shelf with a microfiber cloth or duster, and only put
back the books you truly enjoy. Donate any you'll never read.
May 2
Freshen Up Throw Pillows: Vacuum throw pillows with an
upholstery attachment or spot-clean any visible stains. If you
have extra covers stashed away, swap them out for a new look
that reflects the season. If you like floral patterns, these 18” x
18” spring pillow covers are very cute!
May 3
Clean One Drawer in the Bathroom: Choose any drawer and
remove everything. Toss expired products, dried-out makeup,
or samples you’ll never use. Wipe the inside with a cloth
dampened in warm, soapy water, then dry thoroughly. Only
return what you use regularly.
May 4
Create a Gift Bin: Designate one basket or bin for storing
greeting cards, small gifts, tissue paper, and reusable gift bags.
This makes last-minute gifting simple and stress-free.
May 5
(Cinco de Mayo)
Tidy Your Kitchen Spices: Fiesta flavors
start with fresh spices! Pull out your spice rack or cabinet and
toss anything that’s faded, clumpy, or expired. Wipe the shelf
clean and group similar items together (e.g., baking, grilling).
Label jars if needed.
May 6
Organize Sunglasses and Sunscreen: Gather all your
sunglasses and sunblock products into one place. Toss
anything expired and keep the good stuff where it’s easy to
grab.
May 7
Declutter Just One Purse or Bag: Dump it all out and give
the inside a quick wipe-down. Toss trash, group like items
together (lip balm, receipts, pens), and only put back what
belongs.
May 8
(Teacher Appreciation Week) Write a Thank-You Note to a
Teacher: Whether it’s your child’s current teacher or someone
from your own past, jot a heartfelt note or email to say thank
you…or give a small, but meaningful, gift. You’ll brighten
someone’s entire week.
May 9
Sort Your Inbox by Sender: Pick one company or person you
frequently get email from. Use your email’s search feature,
delete outdated messages, and unsubscribe if necessary. You’ll
reclaim digital space in minutes.
May 10
Clean Out the Glove Box: Open it up and toss any napkins,
old receipts, or expired documents. Wipe the inside with a
damp cloth. Keep essentials: your car manual, proof of
insurance, a pen, etc.
May 11
(Mother’s Day) Honor Mom with a Memory Box: Pull out
keepsakes like photos, cards, or small mementos. Place one
out on display or take a photo to share with loved ones. If your
mom has passed, reflect with gratitude and love.
May 12
Wipe Down Light Fixtures: Dust one ceiling light, lamp base,
or sconce with a microfiber cloth.
May 13
Declutter Your Jewelry Tray: Remove all items, untangle
chains, and match up earring pairs. Wipe the tray clean and
donate or recycle broken or unloved pieces.
May 14
Create a Morning Launch Pad: Set up a tray or small basket
near your door for everyday grab-and-go items like keys,
sunglasses, sunscreen, or your reusable water bottle. It saves
time and stops the morning scramble.
May 15
Wipe Down Your Patio Door Tracks: Use an old toothbrush
or narrow cleaning brush to loosen dirt and debris. Then
vacuum out loose particles. Wipe the tracks with a cloth soaked
in warm, soapy water.
May 16
Quick Fridge Check: Open your fridge and toss one expired
item…or two.
May 17
Review Your Subscriptions: Check your app store, bank
statements, or email for recurring charges. Cancel anything
you’re not using or no longer enjoy. This quick financial tidy-up
can save money.
May 18
Clean a Fan Blade or Air Vent: Turn off the fan and dust
blades with a pillowcase slipped over each one—this traps
dust. For vents, use a vacuum brush or wipe slats with a damp
cloth. Better air = healthier space.
May 19
Tidy Up Tech Cords: Gather random chargers and cords, test
them, and label what you keep with washi tape or a marker.
Recycle unusable ones at an electronics drop-off.
May 20
Refresh the Guest Bathroom: Swap in fresh towels, refill
soap dispensers, and tidy the countertop. Wipe the sink and
mirror with a glass-safe all-purpose spray. You’ll be ready for
impromptu guests.
May 21
Organize Picnic Supplies: Pull out your cooler, tote bag, or
picnic basket. Toss broken utensils or stained cloths, and
restock napkins, plasticware, and outdoor-safe cups and
plates.
May 22
Declutter Your Desktop (Computer or Physical): Delete
unused files, remove sticky notes, or wipe down your mouse
and keyboard. If it’s your actual desk, toss dried-out pens and
file (or recycle) loose papers.
May 23
Prep Your Outdoor Games: Bring out your cornhole boards,
Frisbees, or croquet sets. Wipe them down and ensure all
pieces are present. Store them in a tote or bin for easy summer
access.
May 24
Do a Quick Toy Check: If you have kids or grandkids, find one
neglected toy box or bin. Donate or toss one item that’s broken
or no longer used. Even one less toy means easier cleanup
later.
May 25
Revisit Your Goals: Flip through your planner or journal and
ask yourself what you hoped to accomplish this spring. Jot
down a win and identify one thing to focus on for the rest of the
season.
May 26
(Memorial Day) Honor and Reflect: Set out an American flag
in honor of fallen heroes. Consider donating to a local veteran’s
organization.
May 27
Declutter One Shelf in Your Linen Closet: Pick a shelf and
pull everything off. Refold what you use if messy, and donate
linens that are clean but unused. Wipe the shelf before placing
items back.
May 28
Create a Summer Fun List: Jot down 5 activities you want to
enjoy this summer like, reading in a hammock, getting ice
cream at the new ice cream stand in town, having a picnic,
going to a botanical garden, or visiting a park. Post your list
where you’ll see it.
May 29
Wipe Down a Light Switch Plate: Use a disinfecting wipe to
remove fingerprints and germs. Focus on high-traffic areas like
the kitchen or bathroom.
May 30
Clean the Top of the Fridge: Remove clutter. Then dust and
wipe the surface with an all-purpose cleaner.
May 31
Pick Your June Priorities: Think of 3 small goals—one
personal, one home-related, and one just for fun. Write them
on your calendar or planner and block out time to get started
right away.
