by Maria Gracia Our NEW March Organizing Checklist provides an organizing TO DO for every day of the month… Join our newsletter to be notified when the newest Monthly Organizing Checklist is available. For a PRINTABLE VERSION, click here ____ Mar 1 Beginning of National Craft Month. Use today to declutter your craft collection of items you haven’t used in years. Someone else may be hoping these turn up at a local thrift store or garage sale. ____ Mar 2 Ash Wednesday and the first day of Lent. Lent is a solemn religious observance, in the Christian liturgical calendar, commemorating the 40 days Jesus spent fasting in the desert. Whether you are Christian or not, this is an excellent time of the year to commit to saying goodbye to your clutter. Perhaps you can donate one item a day, for the next 40 days, to someone in need? ____ Mar 3 Organize your cooking utensils. An expanding utensil organizer can help tremendously. ____ Mar 4 Visit your local library. Check out a few books…and perhaps another “unlikely” item. One of the local libraries in my area has an air fryer they loan out! What a fabulous idea. Their patrons can find out if they enjoy using an air fryer before they buy one. ____ Mar 5 Wipe off a small appliance, like the blender or toaster. ____ Mar 6 Donate magazines you have laying around. A local woman’s shelter or nursing home may be very grateful to have these. ____ Mar 7 Pass on a few books you’ll never read again, but enjoyed, to a friend or two. Tell them that when they’re done reading them, they can pass them on to someone else to enjoy. ____ Mar 8 Barbie Day. Do you, your child, or grandchild have Barbie Dolls? If so, either help get the dolls and their many accessories organized…or donate some Barbie Dolls and other Barbie gear to a local charity. ____ Mar 9 Use a long-handled duster to get rid of cobwebs on ceilings, in corners, and on faux greenery. ____Mar 10 Organize your lingerie/underwear drawer. Get rid of, and replace, undergarments that have seen better days. ____ Mar 11 Dust baseboards in one room…or maybe two? ____ Mar 12 Forward clocks in your home, vehicle, and office one hour ahead if you follow Daylight Savings Time in your area. ____ Mar 13 Daylight Saving Time begins at 2:00 a.m. Did you spring ahead? ____ Mar 14 Dust off something that is clearly dusty, like the top of your fridge, a coffee table, or a book shelf. ____ Mar 15 Do you have a surplus of blankets? Wash them and then donate to a local charity. ____ Mar 16 Launder washable curtains and/or throw pillow covers. ____ Mar 17 St. Patrick’s Day. Buy a scratch-off lottery ticket. Learn to bake Irish Soda Bread. Enjoy a slice with a cup of tea while you scratch your ticket and try your luck. ____ Mar 18 Stow away any winter decor and rotate spring decor back on display. ____ Mar 19 National Quilting Day. Begin a new quilt, work on one you’ve already started, or go to a quilting show just to learn more about the art of quilting and its origins. ____ Mar 20 First Day of Spring. Do something fun outdoors to celebrate this new season of rebirth. ____ Mar 21 Sweep and or mop your home’s entryway. ____ Mar 22 Start cleaning one window per day, inside and out. ____ Mar 23 Locate your child’s “best” artwork. Choose five or so “treasures” from each year and get rid of the rest. ____ Mar 24 Clean behind the refrigerator. You’ll have to pull it out to do this. Get help from someone if needed. ____ Mar 25 Wash the bathmats in your bathrooms. Most can go right into the washing machine. Rubber-backed ones usually can’t go into the dryer, so if you have these, allow them to line dry outside or on an indoor laundry rack. ____ Mar 26 Is it high time to shampoo your home’s rugs and carpets? You can do this yourself or call in a professional. ____ Mar 27 Toss socks that have have been missing their mates for quite some time. ____ Mar 28 If you store winter clothes for the season, today is a good day to begin. While you’re at it, begin rotating spring clothes back into your closet. ____ Mar 29 Jot down some outdoor jobs you have to complete. On nice days, begin getting outside to complete one task at a time. ____ Mar 30 Take a Walk in a Park Day. No holiday is necessary for taking a walk in the park, but having this holiday inspires doing so. Enjoy one of your local parks today. Start with some vigorous walking for exercise. End with a leisurely stroll to mindfully enjoy the trees, birds, and other beauties of nature. ____ Mar 31 Sort through one box that has been sitting unopened in your garage, basement, attic, or shed. Donate, give away to a friend/relative, or dispose…whatever is applicable. Put the “keepers” to good use. Back to Monthly Organizing Checklists Index
