Monthly Organizing Checklist February 2020 LOVE your organized life! Start today with our new February Organizing Checklist… Join our newsletter to be notified when the newest checklist is available. For a PRINTABLE VERSION, click here ____ Feb 1 Plan your meals for the month. Don’t forget to schedule some eating out and leftover days. ____ Feb 2 Spend the day visiting the elderly, widows/widowers, and those without family nearby. ____ Feb 3 Clean your fridge. Take out and wash the shelves and drawers, discard any expired food, and organize the remaining condiments. ____ Feb 4 Write out your shopping list, using your meal plan. Remember to include special treats for Valentine’s Day. ____ Feb 5 Clean the insides of your home’s windows and the window tracks on a day that’s not too cold. Use an old toothbrush to really scrub out the crevices, after spraying some widow cleaner in the tracks. Use paper towels to wipe up the spray and dirt.  ____ Feb 6 Today is National Frozen Yogurt Day. Take your family, friends, or even yourself out for some frozen yogurt. Try a new flavor or toppings and enjoy your treat. .____ Feb 7 Sort and organize your DVDs. Organize them alphabetically within groups, like biographies or holiday movies. Have some that you no longer watch? Set them aside to donate to your local thrift store, a children’s hospital wing, or to the public library. ____ Feb 8 Wash and dry all the bed linens, including blankets, comforters, mattress pads, and pillow shams. Use your own washer if it is big enough, or take the bedding to the Laundromat. Make the beds and enjoy a good night sleep. If you have more than two beds in your house and taking care of all of them is overwhelming, do half this week and half next…or just do once a week. No matter what, they’re all going to get done. ____ Feb 9 Sending out Valentine’s Day cards to family and friends? Get them ready to mail. This is a good time to have the kids get theirs ready for their classmates. ____ Feb 10 Spend some time emptying your email inbox. Reply to the most pressing messages, delete the junk, unsubscribe from unwanted lists, and save those email messages that need future attention. Schedule a time to return to those ones. ____ Feb 11 Clean your light fixtures. Take them down, wash, and completely dry them before replacing them. Replace any burnt out light bulbs with LEDs. ____ Feb 12 Go visit your local library and check out a book or two. Spend a few hours cuddled up reading with a warm beverage of your choice. You deserve this relaxation time…guilt-free! ____ Feb 13 Sweep and vacuum your kitchen and bathroom floors. Give them a good mopping too. ____ Feb 14 Valentine’s Day. Prepare a special dinner for your family, spouse, friend…or just for you! ____ Feb 15 Have a movie day with the family. Build a blanket fort in the family room. Let each family member choose their favorite movie, make some popcorn and enjoy spending the day together. Be sure and turn off all phones and other interruptions. ____ Feb 16 Bundle up, if it is cold, and go for a walk. Look for others who might need a helping hand. This could include shoveling snow, carrying in some packages, stopping to visit with a neighbor, or any other need you may see. ____ Feb 17 Clean and organize your linen/towel closet. Take everything out, wipe the shelves, sort towels and linens discarding any that are worn out, and then fold and stack. Place sheets into a pillowcase. This will keep sets together. ____ Feb 18 Wipe down the baseboards in the living room. Remember those behind the furniture. ____ Feb 19 Remove unused icons from your computer. ____ Feb 20 Deep clean your shower. Wash the shower curtain. Rubber band a Ziploc bag filled with vinegar to the shower head and leave it soaking for an hour. You should then be able to do final cleaning and rinsing, without the need to scrub. ____ Feb 21 Replace your furnace filter. ____ Feb 22 Clean your silverware drawer. Remove all utensils, wipe out the drawer, and organize the utensils. ____ Feb 23 Have a family planning meeting. Write everyone’s schedules on a calendar. Better yet, use Cozi, the #1 family organizer that keeps schedules, lists, contacts and more all in one place! ____ Feb 24 Pour some vinegar into the bottom of your dishwasher and run it through a cycle, while empty. ____ Feb 25 Wipe down the inside and outside of the washer and dryer. ____ Feb 26 Wash your light switches and door knobs with Clorox or another germ killer, to help cut down on cold and flu germs. ____ Feb 27 Clean your medicine cabinet. Contact your local sanitation department about the proper disposal of expired medicine. ____ Feb 28 Get a head start on your March menus. Plan your meals around your freezer contents. ____ Feb 29 An extra day for February only comes around every 4 years. You’ve earned a chore-free day. Do something fun just for you!
