Monthly Organizing Checklist April, 2019 Are you ready to hop into an organized life? For a PRINTABLE VERSION, click here ____ Apr 1 April Fool’s Day. Memorize a “kid friendly” silly joke. Share it with someone. ____ Apr 2 You know what April means…taxes are due this month. Have you done yours? ____ Apr 3 Spend 15 minutes catching up on filing papers in your “To Be Filed” pile. .____ Apr 4 Did your New Year’s exercise resolution fall by the wayside? There’s no reason to wait until next January to start again, do it now. ____ Apr 5 This is a good month to clean out the attic and/or the garage if needed, the weather is not too cold or too hot. Don’t feel you have to do it all at once. Even 30 minutes every weekend will help you lighten up.  ____ Apr 6 Change decor, pillows, comforters, etc. to reflect the change in seasons. Lighten up. .____ Apr 7 Schedule any car maintenance. Wash any mud, salt, or other signs of winter away. ____  Apr 8 Buy fresh gasoline for the lawnmower. Get any needed maintenance done. ____  Apr 9 Cut some spring buds for a vase. ____ Apr 10 End-of-season sales are still happening, it’s a good time to pick up winter clothing and accessories. ____ Apr 11 Think about Easter if you celebrate it—plan menus (or make a reservation), buy decorations, and get dye for coloring some eggs. ____ Apr 12 National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day. Who doesn’t love a good grilled cheese sandwich… especially with some tomato soup to go along with it? ____ Apr 13 Magazines piled up? This happens to a lot of us. Set aside the ones you really want to read and then recycle the rest. If some have all their pages intact, consider donating them to a nursing home. ____ Apr 14 Summer vacation plans?  It’s not too early to start making plans and reservations. ____ Apr 15 Do any of your pets need vaccinations soon? Schedule their appointments. Remember if you need to board them while you go on vacation, they will need to have their shots up to date. ____ Apr 16 Clean out the freezer. If you have foods like soups and stews that feel too heavy for hot weather start using them up this month. ____ Apr 17 Do you have a child or other family member who is graduating this year? Start thinking about a good gift or planning graduation activities. ____ Apr 18 Go through your cookbooks or search the internet for some lighter meals to serve as the weather warms up. ____ Apr 19 Clean off the front and back porch. Clean and put out porch furniture. Replace any porch plants that look sad. Clean your front door and sidelights, they can get really grungy over the winter. Also, if applicable to you, Passover begins tonight. ____ Apr 20 Replace welcome mats or clean them thoroughly, You do want them to be welcoming…not scary. ____ Apr 21 Easter. Enjoy the day with family and friends. ____ Apr 22 Earth Day. Start recycling or composting if you don’t already. Plant a tree. One tree can produce nearly 260 pounds of oxygen each year. ____ Apr 23 After Easter, buy new décor or table items on sale for next year. ____ Apr 24 Sandal season is coming -- time for a pedicure if you haven’t had or done one in a while. ____ Apr 25 It may be time to start planting seeds and bedding plants where you live, especially if you have long, hot summers. Give new plants time to get established and toughened before the summer heat assails them. ____ Apr 26 Check your hoses and/or sprinkler system. Replace or repair hoses or sprinkler parts. It is easier to get someone out to fix the sprinkler system before the killer heat begins. ____ Apr 27 April is a good month to buy lawn and gardening supplies, the selection is good this month. ____ Apr 28 If you have a seldom used bathroom in the house, make a point to flush it every couple of weeks to keep stains and unpleasant odors at bay. Both of these occur with unflushed toilets. ____ Apr 29 Go through the house with a soft brush and maybe a hand vac. Clean the lampshades and picture frames. These are easy to forget to dust. ____ Apr 30 Check any gift cards you got for Christmas, and see how much is left on them. Remember to use them.
