New Year, New You Challenges
Instead of setting one big resolution, here are 31 mini ones for you to
begin the year on the right foot…one for each day of the month.
1.
Start a New Journal. Open to that first blank page. Write your
name, today’s date, and jot down your first thought of the day, no
matter how grand or small.
2.
Smile. Before you even get out of bed, smile. It may feel silly, but it’s
a positive way to begin your day ahead.
3.
Create a Bucket List. Create a bucket list of 25 things you want to
do this year.
4.
Give Yourself Some Love Today. Do something you love for 30
uninterrupted minutes.
5.
Stay Hydrated. Download a phone app that reminds you to drink
water throughout each day.
6.
Get Movin’. Join an exercise class or begin a new exercise
regimen.
7.
Sip and Read. Go out for a cup of coffee in a lovely coffee shop. Sit
there, sip your coffee, and read a favorite magazine.
8.
View a Funny Flick. Watch your favorite funny movie. Doing so is
good for the soul.
9.
Cancel Something on Your Calendar. Say “no” and cancel
something that is no longer serving you or making you happy.
10.
Keep Clothing Clutter Under Control. Replace one clothing item
that is way too worn out to be wearing.
11.
Keep Your Mind Sharp. Begin learning about something you’ve
always been interested in. Either look some details up on the
Internet, take a class, or ask someone to tell/show you.
12.
Stretch. Mindfully stretch for 10 minutes today.
13.
Wake Up Motivated. Watch the sunrise.
14.
End the Day on a Peaceful Note. Watch the sunset.
15.
Get Cooking. Cook something that you know you’ll love, even if
other family members won’t. They can certainly have a pizza night
for one night while you enjoy your favorite meal.
16.
Take a Selfie of Yourself and post it…or scrapbook a page about
yourself and what you believe and stand for.
17.
Be Mindful of Your Health. Make those important health
appointments today, and don’t cancel when those appointments roll
around. Take care of yourself, your body, and your mind.
18.
Commit to Buying Less Stuff. Write down your “new year, new
you” spending and saving goals.
19.
Get a new haircut. Perhaps a new cut and style?
20.
Be Inspired. Listen to an inspiring podcast.
21.
Get Rid of Clutter. Focus on one area of your home. Set a timer for
10 minutes. Declutter anything that you no longer need, no longer
love, and/or that’s taking up way too much space.
22.
Power Down. Practice a social media detox for 24 hours, starting
right now.
23.
Take a Moment for Yourself. Grab a cup of TO GO coffee or tea.
Go somewhere where there are lots of people and someplace to sit
down. Do nothing more than enjoy your drink and people-watch.
24.
State an Affirmation. Step outside for a few moments, breathe in
the fresh air, and say to yourself, “I am beautiful.” Because you are.
25.
Discover Something New. Watch a TED Talk.
26.
Wear Your Favorite Color Today. Doing so will make you feel more
alive.
27.
Do Something Touristy in Your Town. Visit a local book store,
museum, or an event at the library.
28.
Buy Yourself a Bouquet of Flowers. Display them where you’ll be
able to see and enjoy them.
29.
Do Something That Calms You, like Yoga or a jigsaw puzzle.
30.
Begin a Genealogy Project. Start by investing a few moments
sketching out a family tree.
31.
Repeat! Look back on all of the above challenges, choose one you
really enjoyed, and do it again today!
