Organizing Challenges Mini Organizing Challenges: September For each week of September, our mini organizing challenges will be focused on helping you “Transition Smoothly Into Autumn” Here goes… Week 1 (Sep 1 - Sep 4) ___ Begin your day with a burst of nourishment and energy. Sometimes, small changes can make a big impact. Drinking lemon water in the morning is energizing (which helps you increase productivity), aids digestion, keeps you hydrated, gives you a healthy dose of vitamin C, and provides phytonutrients to help protect your body against disease. This week’s challenge is to begin your day with a glass of lemon water. Just squeeze half of a lemon into a glass of water and make that your first beverage of the day. It’s a great goal as we slowly transition into fall. Week 2 (Sep 5 - 11) ___ Adjust your routine. Does your routine automatically change this time of year? Perhaps you have kids back in school…or learning virtually at home. Maybe your work schedule changes, depending on the season. Whether external factors cause your routine to change or not, this is a good time of year to take a good look at your schedule. Add in a new routine and get rid of (or adjust) an old one that isn’t quite working. Week 3 (Sep 12 - 18) ___ Wash/clean and stow away summer gear. Be sure all summer clothing is laundered. Same goes for gardening supplies, grilling supplies, pool gear, etc. Clean everything well and store it in your garage, shed, etc. Now is a good time to donate any summer clothes, tools, etc. you didn’t wear/use this past season. Week 4: (Sep 19 - 25) ___ Pick a room. Declutter it and clean it. Doing this not only reduces the amount of “stuff” in your home, but also helps you simplify your life, and can provide the sense of “out with the old and in with the new purification” that we all need at the end of one season and the beginning of another. A few days left in the month… (Sep 26 - 30) ___ Do something specifically for you. As we head into October, it’s important to remember that when we take care of ourselves, we’re much more apt and happier to help others. So get a haircut, give yourself a manicure, buy a new book, sign up for a class, change up your exercise routine, or find some social outlets, in person or online.
