For the month of May, my 5 Organizing and Life Challenges are focused on
Uplifting Yourself and Others. When we do this for ourselves and for
others, we allow our minds to “focus on the good.” And I think you’ll
agree…the more good we have in this world, the better. Ready, set, go!
Challenges for Uplifting Yourself and Others
___
Focus on what you DID do: So often, we look at our long list of TO
DOs and focus on what did not get done. For this month, I challenge
you to focus on what DID get done, and to celebrate those
accomplishments.
___
Make others feel important: It’s easy to be distracted these days,
but that distraction can sometimes fracture relationships when the
other person is feeling neglected or ignored. When someone is
talking, listen. This month, commit to truly listen. Silence your phone.
Turn off the TV. Give that person your full, undivided attention.
___
Do something just for you: We often do things for our kids, our
spouses, our parents, our boss, etc. This month, be sure you’re
doing something that’s just for you. Maybe get a new haircut, or take
an art class, or go see a movie in the theater by yourself. Doing so
isn’t selfish. It’s self-care.
___
Look for the good and give them a “shout out”: People are
always doing nice things in this world. Don’t be so busy that these
good deeds go unnoticed. Catch them doing something right, like
speaking nicely to the grocery cashier or bringing in treats for the
office break room. Let them know that you did take notice and how
much you appreciate those actions/attributes.
___
Be sunny: No matter the weather or the challenges that may be
present, try to always be a sunny person…someone who looks on
the bright side and shares that positive, helpful, compassionate
energy with others.
