Always Have These Food Staples in Your
Kitchen

It’s handy to have common ingredients and foods stored in your cupboards,
pantry and refrigerator. You certainly don’t want to be in the middle of
making dinner and realize you’re out of chicken broth, pasta, or salt and
pepper. Below is a list of common staples found in most kitchens. Staples
are certainly subject to change based on your food preferences…this is
simply a starting point.
•
Oils – Olive and vegetable oils
•
Vinegar
•
Spices – Some examples include: salt and pepper, cinnamon, oregano,
thyme, dried parsley, and cumin
•
Canned Fruits and Vegetables – (For last minute additions to a meal)
•
Canned Beans – Northern beans, kidney beans, Chick Peas, chili
beans, etc.
•
Soup – chicken and beef broth, bouillon cubes
•
Canned Tomatoes - diced, paste, and sauce
•
Rice
•
Pasta
•
Potatoes
•
Garlic
•
Onions
•
Peanut Butter and Jelly
•
Carrots and Celery (Hardy vegetables that keep for a long time)
•
All-Purpose Flour
•
Sugar – white, powdered, brown
•
Corn Starch
•
Baking Powder
•
Baking Soda
•
Vanilla
•
Gelatin
•
Dairy – butter, milk, eggs
•
Parmesan Cheese
•
Ketchup
•
Mustard
•
Lemon Juice
