Holidays

The holidays are fast approaching. Here are five great ways to get
organized for this festive season.
1.
Find Gifts in Your Own Home. This is the perfect time of year to go
through your home, with a large plastic bag, and gather all those items
you no longer need or want. Donate clothing, toys, coats, etc. to
families-in-need via the Salvation Army or another charitable
organization. You will have an even merrier holiday, knowing that you
helped someone else.
2.
Make a List. Don't try to keep everything you have to do in your head.
Create a written list of Holiday TO DOs and check off each task as it is
completed. Check out my Christmas Holiday Planner to keep all of
your holiday TO DOs organized.
3.
Don’t Overbook. It’s very easy, this time of year, to get overwhelmed.
Don’t schedule a million activities or you'll end up exhausting yourself.
It’s OK to say no to volunteering for a bake sale or attending a holiday
party if you really don’t want to, or don’t have time to, participate. While
you’re scheduling all of your holiday TO DOs, be sure to also plan
some quiet time for yourself and your family.
4.
Create a Budget and Stick to It: Amidst the joy and festivities of the
holiday season, it's easy to get carried away with spending. Creating a
budget can help you manage your finances wisely and avoid
unnecessary stress when the credit card bills arrive in January. Start
by determining how much you can comfortably spend on gifts,
decorations, food, and other holiday-related expenses. Be realistic
about your financial situation and set clear limits for each category.
Consider using cash for your purchases to prevent overspending and
keep better track of your expenses. Remember that the holidays are
about creating memorable experiences and connections, not about
extravagant spending.
5.
Embrace Technology for Holiday Card Sending: Sending holiday
cards is a wonderful tradition, but it can become overwhelming,
especially if you have a long list of recipients. Embrace technology by
using online platforms to create and send digital holiday cards. This not
only saves time but also reduces waste. Many websites offer
customizable templates, allowing you to add a personal touch to your
digital cards. I do a mixture…I send printed cards out to some folks on
my list…and digital cards to others.
By taking organized proactive steps, you can ensure a more enjoyable and
stress-free festive season for yourself and your loved ones.
