The holidays are meant to bring joy, not stress! With a little planning and
creativity, you can make the season merry and bright for
everyone…including YOU. These five practical tips will help you stay
organized…so that you can relax and soak in the holiday magic.
1.
Declutter Gift-Giving Areas Before the Big Day: Before the gift-
giving frenzy begins, take 10-15 minutes to tidy up the spaces where
presents will be exchanged or opened. Clear off coffee tables,
organize the area around the tree, and make sure you have a
designated spot for discarded wrapping paper. If your gift bags, bows,
or tags are a bit chaotic, now’s the perfect time to sort them out so you
can grab what you need quickly. This quick decluttering session
ensures you’ll have space for the festivities—and makes cleaning up
afterward much easier.
2.
Create a Holiday Command Center: Set up a small, central area in
your home dedicated to holiday organization. Use a table, tray, or even
a corner of your kitchen counter to house your holiday calendar,
shopping lists, gift receipts, stamps, and wrapping supplies. Include a
small bin for receipts to make returns easier and a notepad for jotting
down last-minute gift ideas or grocery needs. This one-stop spot will
save you time hunting for items and keep holiday chaos under control.
3.
Prep Your Freezer for Holiday Meals: Save time and reduce last-
minute stress by preparing meals and treats in advance. Make cookie
dough ahead of time, roll it into logs, and freeze it so you can slice and
bake fresh cookies whenever you need them. Soups, casseroles, and
even side dishes can be made weeks before the big day—just freeze
them in portioned containers for easy reheating. Label everything
clearly with the date and reheating instructions so there’s no
guesswork. When it’s crunch time, your freezer becomes your holiday
hero.
4.
Shop Your Own Home: Before you head to the store, take inventory
of what you already have. Dig through closets, drawers, and storage
bins to find unused decor, wrapping paper, ribbons, or small items that
could double as gifts—like candles, picture frames, or books you never
got around to reading. You’ll save money and reduce clutter while
giving new life to things already in your home. Plus, the satisfaction of
repurposing items is its own gift.
5.
Schedule "Silent Nights": The holidays can feel overwhelming if you
don’t take time for yourself. Block out one or two evenings a week as
“Silent Nights,” where you pause all holiday to-dos and simply relax.
Light a candle, sip your favorite tea, and enjoy something that brings
you joy—whether it’s a holiday movie, a puzzle, or quiet journaling by
the fire. These intentional pauses not only recharge your energy but
also help you savor the season.
