10 Ways I Stay Organized For My Health and
You Can Too

One of the most important things for me to keep organized is my health.
Think about it. If you’re not feeling healthy most days, it’s much more
challenging to get things done, to reach your dreams, to take care of your
family, to work...and, in short, to live a happy life. In light of this, here are
things I live by each and every day to stay as healthy as possible.
1.
I don’t skip meals. Don’t skip meals or starve yourself. If you don’t
eat enough food, your body responds to lack of food by going into
starvation mode. In order to conserve fuel, your metabolism slows
down in order to conserve energy.
2.
I get enough sleep. When you’re tired, you’re more likely to sit down
and move less, it’s easier to grab unhealthy snacks for energy, and
you’re more apt to skip the gym than those who’ve had an adequate
amount of sleep. While I can’t say I get eight hours of sleep most
nights, I aim for at least seven.
3.
I don’t sit all day: Sitting in a chair all day, even if you exercise, will
still slow down your metabolism. Our bodies are meant to move, not
sit on the computer all day. If you have a desk job, stand up and
stretch, or take a short walk, every hour.
4.
I stay hydrated. Drinking lots of water helps with weight loss,
maintains the balance of body fluids, keeps our skin looking beautiful,
energizes muscles, helps our kidneys and bowel function, and keeps
us young. Really, do you need more reasons for drinking your fill each
day?
5.
I avoid refined carbs. Refined carbohydrates like white bread,
pastas, rice, etc. are simple carbohydrates. This means your body
doesn’t have to work very hard to digest the food, letting your
metabolism slow down. Yes, I’ll enjoy a plate of pasta now and then,
but on most days, I try to stick with whole grains and healthy
vegetables for my carb sources.
6.
I exercise. I exercise at least one hour a day, six days a week. On the
seventh day, I give my body a rest.
7.
I read to learn. Keep your mind sharp by reading and learning
something new...that matters...each day.
8.
I do something out of the box. Whether you attempt a new recipe,
try a new activity, or change your driving route to work, keep your
daily enthusiasm up by doing something each day that you wouldn’t
normally do.
9.
I keep in touch. Always keep in touch with your family members and
friends. We need people in our lives who love us, and who we
love...both in person, and via phone calls or social media.
10.
I laugh...often. Laughing means we’re feeling good about ourselves.
If you’re not laughing enough, at least 5 times a day, you’re under
quota. Find things in your life that make you more joyful!
