My Life - My Organizing Stories I Count My Blessings…Instead of Sheep I recently heard the song, “Count Your Blessings, Instead of Sheep”  by Irving Berlin. I was reminded that counting one’s blessings in a very good thing to do...and more productive than counting sheep. So I decided to try it that evening...seeking blessings beyond the wonderful blessings of family and friends. It not only helped me fall asleep, but also put me in a happy, content frame of mind. Here are 7 of the many blessings I counted: 1. It was a rainy night and I felt blessed I was in a nice, warm, dry home. 2. Clean, clear water right out of the tap, whenever I need it. No need to fill a bucket at a river. 3. The Internet which gives me the world at my fingertips. Any time I have the inclination to learn something, it’s a Google search away. 4. The ability to remember lyrics to countless songs...even those from my childhood. 5. Calculators. Yes, it’s fun to solve a math problem here and there, but only when I want to! 6. Chapstick. I don’t know how I’d get along without it. 7. The many talents of others…if you look around you, you’ll see you’re surrounded by talent ranging from great singing voices, to the ability to speak in front of others with ease, to someone baking up a loaf of bread that looks magazine- worthy. With the season of Thanksgiving upon us, it’s a great time of year to focus on our blessings. Try to come up with at least seven a night. Journal them, reflect on them, and allow them to make you end every single day on a gracious note.
