Make a shabby surface look new again or
spruce up a boring shelf or table
by Maria Gracia
Self-adhesive wallpaper can make a shabby surface look like new again. It
can also spruce up a boring shelf or even line a drawer. Wallpaper comes
in a variety of colors and textures and can usually be wiped clean with a
damp rag.
Measure the shelf, surface, etc. Draw an outline of the surface on the back
of the wallpaper roll using a pencil and straight-edge ruler. (Take your time
and be sure the measurement is precise.) Be sure your surface is
protected. I always use a cutting mat. Grab a pair of scissors, a utility knife,
or a rotary cutter and cut the wallpaper to size. Stick the wallpaper on the
shelf, trim as needed, and enjoy your brand-new look.
(These are very simplified instructions for an easy-peasy project. If you’re
trying to do something more elaborate, Google instructions (like “use
wallpaper to decorate furniture” etc.)
