Spring holds a special place in my heart as one of my favorite seasons. It's
the perfect time to breathe new life into my home. With that in mind, here are
25 simple yet effective spring cleaning tasks that I make sure to tackle every
year.
1.
Open windows. Remove musty winter odors by letting in some fresh air.
2.
Swap seasonal clothes. Swap bulky sweaters for your warm-weather
clothes.
3.
Winter bedding. Launder your winter comforter, mattress pad and bed
sheets.
4.
Clean window treatments. Inspect, dust, vacuum, or dry-clean window
treatments.
5.
Winter coats. Have your winter coats dry-cleaned and stored away for
next winter.
6.
Smoke alarms. Change the batteries in all your smoke alarms. This
should be done at least 2 times a year.
7.
Service the A/C. Schedule a routine air conditioner maintenance and
inspection. You’ll want your A/C working on the first hot day of summer!
8.
Vacuum. Move furniture and vacuum underneath it.
9.
Spot clean furnishings. Vacuum sofas and chairs and spot clean as
needed.
10.
Ceiling fans. Dust the ceiling fans throughout your house.
11.
Crown molding and baseboards. Dust crown molding and lightly wash
baseboards.
12.
Clutter control. Declutter ONE space in your home. It could be a closet,
a drawer, cabinet, or the space under your bed.
13.
Vents and registers. Vacuum or wash heat registers and air vent covers.
14.
Your dryer. Clean the lint from your exterior dryer vent.
15.
Kitchen cupboards. Discard expired foods.
16.

and winter debris.

and make any necessary repairs.
18.
Patio furniture. Remove, wash, and repair outdoor furniture.
19.
Trash Bins. Wash out trash and recycling bins.
20.
Gardening tools. Inspect gardening tools for rust and remove any dirt
and debris. If time allows, organize all outdoor tools in ONE area or zone
of your garage.

blades sharpened. This will make yard work much easier.
22.
Restock fuel. Refill fuel containers for your outdoor equipment, like the
lawn mower and trimmers.
23.
Clean birdhouses. Clean and repair damaged birdhouses. Restock bird
feeders as well.
24.
Spring clean your car. Clear out the car removing all items from the
floor, seats, and cup holders. Spot clean the upholstery as needed.
25.
Sweep. Sweep the porch, deck, and around the door removing all debris.
