Everyone would love a home that’s nicely cleaned all the time. For most
people, this is not a reality. Although cleanliness is a virtue, it doesn’t have to
be a daunting task. Let’s explore some quick shortcuts that will help you get
the job done fast.
1.
Make a regular cleaning schedule: When you keep up with your basic
routines, it’s unlikely that things will get out of control. By setting aside
specific time for cleaning, you will gradually get yourself into a rhythm of
upkeep of your house. Therefore, all homemaking tasks will not take so
long or seem so overwhelming.
2.
Dress for the task: What you wear affects your cleaning speed and
efficiency. Dress in comfortable clothing designed for the task at hand.
Protect your body against chemicals using gloves, goggles, knee pads
and supportive shoes. Wear an apron or cleaning clothes in order to
boost your speed and efficiency.
3.
Stay focused: It’s so easy to get lost in distractions or bogged down in
perfection when cleaning and spend too much time on a task you
intended to do for 10 minutes. Set a timer for each task in order to stay
focused and motivated to complete the task at hand and move quickly
through the entire process.
4.
Clean as you go: You can save so much time by cleaning as you go. At
first it might seem like you are always cleaning. Eventually it will
become second to nature and soon you won’t even brood over it. For
instance, you can wipe out your sink after brushing your teeth, clean the
shower while taking a shower, or throw laundry in the wash before
starting breakfast.
5.
Keep your cleaning supplies in a convenient place: If you have to run
upstairs for cleaning supplies you need downstairs, you might get
distracted on your way up. Pretty soon you might be checking
Facebook. Therefore, if you keep everything you need to clean the
downstairs bathroom right there in the bathroom, it is more likely you’ll
finish cleaning without getting distracted.
6.
Clean in the most logical order: If you need to clean the entire house
top to bottom, think of a logical order in which you can complete the
task. For example, dust before vacuuming. Any dust that falls to the
floor in the process will then be vacuumed up.
7.
Lighten your load: When you have less stuff, it means you have less to
clean…and more space for what you need. When all your closets and
cabinets are stuffed, trying to be organized can be too frustrating.
Donate items to charity or have a garage sale to get rid of the items you
no longer need or use. Your cleaning routine will go faster when you
have less to clean and move around.
8.
Find a motivator: Besides heading off boredom, motivators are helpful
when it comes to preventing distractions. For instance you can play
your favorite music or listen to books on tape while you’re cleaning, so
you’re not distracted by other TO DOs.
9.
Use proper tools: Invest in good tools and use them to clean in record
time. You can’t clean quickly and effectively if you don’t have the right
tools.
10.
Black plastic trash bag: Take a large black trash bag with you, as you
make rounds. Empty floor sweepings, the contents of all waste baskets,
and any other debris into the trash bag before dumping the bag into the
outside garbage container.
