A Clean Home is an Allergy-free Home The bane for far too many people is their personal challenge of allergies. While most allergies are more of a nuisance limited to the occasional sneeze and rash, some have far more negative effects. Regardless of how dangerous those personal allergies are, it is important to find some way to deal with allergies proactively so as to minimize their effect on each person's life. Fortunately, there are a number of ways to do this. Although it can add a number of chores to an already long list, that list can be well worth it if it ensures that the person does not need to deal with their allergies. Starting With The Bed Let's start with the bed. For those with pets, this can be the nexus of all problems as their furry loved one likes to lay on their bed. The first step is to limit pets in the bedroom. Their fur and dander can be a major catalyst for a number of allergies. The pillowcase and bedding should also be changed and cleaned on a regular basis. This ensures that the dander from pets and others is never given a chance to work itself into the fabric of the bed. You should also look for the best mattress for allergies. Pollen, dust, bed bugs, and those microscopic, crab-like creatures called dust mites are mostly prevented from entering the mattress because of the material of the mattress. If you suffer from allergies, a mattress made to combat allergies is definitely something to look into. Also in the bedroom, keep in mind that you should try to keep the windows closed. While this is a good idea for any room in the house, it especially applies to the bedroom given that the drapes tend to be thicker and more inclined to store dust and other allergens. Running the air conditioning can help keep the dust down, so it may be well worth it as often as feasible. As a side note, using a hypo-allergenic liquid for washing clothes is a great idea as well. In short, you should do everything to keep your bedroom clean as possible in order to keep the dust and dander away. Other Rooms The best thing that you can do is to keep the other rooms as clean as possible. Dust and vacuum regularly. While you should keep the house clean anyway, allergies can hide everywhere, and so it may be necessary to do a thorough cleaning of the house every so often. This also means that organizing clutter can quickly become an ongoing concern. An organized house is easy to maintain and gives dust fewer places to hide. If you happen to live in a dusty area, keeping the door closed and the air conditioner running is not a bad idea. Keep in mind that food storage can lead to its own problems and that the food should be rotated as often as possible. This also means that food should be kept to as few rooms as possible, and dishes should be collected and washed as often as possible. Even a stray popcorn kernel can be a potential problem for someone with severe allergies. It is just a matter of making sure that everything is kept as clean as possible. While all of this makes cleaning for allergies an onerous task, it is well worth it. Keeping Pets You can have a pet but it is just a matter of keeping in mind how severe your allergies are. For the most severe allergies, you should look into hypo-allergenic options. For those who can bear some of the dander, the options are limitless. Fish may be the best option for those allergic to birds and mammals. Reptiles, such as snakes and lizards, may seem ideal, but their food may be an issue for those with allergies, especially live food. Regardless of which pet you end up with, keep in mind that it needs to be cleaned up after religiously in order to avoid triggering allergies. A clean house is a safe house. You can keep the problems that come with allergies to a minimum if you keep the house clean and organized. Running that air conditioner can only help. Keep your cleaning on schedule and you should do fine.
